The Price of Cloth

ok...so after gettin my rubbish disappointin grade..i made my way down to orchard to buy my uniform

the first thing that shocked me is Bibi and Baba is crowded with RG girls...in other words..i was out of place...and den, at tt very moment, i came to a conclusion:

RI boys are either :
1) bloody kiasu, and hv alrdy bought their uniforms ages ago..which is quite true..cause a number of em hv alrdy been wearin it to sch...

2) they cant b bothered abt gettin new uniforms, hence no one was there...except one guy who came much later....

now comes shocker no. 2: i realised we as guys are at the lower end of the bargain for a set of uniform!

lets see...
Guy:
size 15.5 shirt - S$11.00 (4 s.f.) [intermediate steps require 4 s.f. unless u wish to loose marks]
size 32 pants - S$18.00 (4 s.f.)
total cost of 1 set = S$11.00 + S$18.00 = S$29.0 (3 s.f.) [final ans shld b in 3 s.f. unless u figured u hv too much marks n decide to loose some]

Girl:
size 14.5 blouse - S$10.50 (4 s.f.)
size XL skirt - S$12.00 (4 s.f.)
total cost of 1 set = S$10.50 + S$12.00 = S$22.5 (3 s.f.)

Since amt of cloth in size 15.5 shirt > amt of cloth in size 14.5 blouse,
amt of cloth in size 32 pants > amt of cloth in size XL skirt,
--------------------------------- and -----------------------------------
Since more cloth => higher production cost => more expensive
Hence guys shld pay more for 1 set of uniform compared to girls (shown).


Here comes the problem, this theory defies all that i hv learnt when i was young~

Amt of cloth used is indirectly proportional to the price of clothing,
i.e the clothing does not hv a tick or special brand whatsoever

let me state an example to reiterate my point:

  1. Price of Bikini > Price of Swimsuit
  2. Amt of cloth in Swimsuit > Amt of cloth in Bikini
=> the lesser the amt of cloth used, the more expensive the clothing wld b



now...Since this theory was passed down from my grandfather to my mother and den to me, and it has stand true all these years and thru the generations, i trust it a whopping 200%. In conclusion, we are paying an unfair amt for our uniforms!
