A new begining?

Reading the horoscope in the papers was something he wasn't familiar with, but somehow he felt compelled to read it that day. The horoscope read "You are convinced that this is your last chance, but something does not feel right. Your heart says no, your head says yes. The stars say that even if you are starving, it is an act of wisdom to bypass food you know is poisoned." He is amazed at how accurate the horoscopes were about his feelings. he hesitates, he fears... is this a sign? should he retreat?

Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, it was too late. He has to give it a shot. He had already been suffering long enough from the grief this issue has caused him. If it succeeds, this cloud will be lifted off him, if it fails, he would fall into the abyss. It is a matter of opportunity cost, but convinced this is his last chance, he goes for it.

Out of the large crowd, he spots her. His heart skips a beat. He wanted to go up to her, but his reflexes told him to hide. He is so afraid to meet her, afraid of the reaction and response he might get. He hid. He was panting like a dog even though no strenuous actions were done, for his heart was beating so fast, he needed to catch his breath

"Wait. Later" he told himself, certain that this was not the right time to see her. He did not wish to further affect her, to pile on top of the stress she is already withstanding; no, not until it's done and she is at ease. "Wait. Later" he told himself. Or is he just escaping?

Everything went smoothly, everyone was enjoying themselves. “Should I go up to her now?” he wondered. No doubt things were going well, but it was only the half way mark. Should he take the risk? There was no time to ponder. She had already seen him. She looked surprised by his presence, but gave a big smile and waved. He hesitated, somewhat stunned by her reaction, before waving back and giving an awkward smile

Immense relive washed over him. He smiled to himself and walked up to her. They exchanged greetings and chatted for a bit. Just a bit. Besides, they were only formalities. He couldn't stand the awkwardness anymore, and left silently as she turned to talk to someone else. He wondered to himself..Why was the situation so awkward? Doesn’t it signify things have been forgotten when she acknowledge his presence?Everything else went on smoothly and the event ended. He went to find her again. She was hugging all her old pals, but when it came to his turn; they looked at each other, she smiled and reached out her hand. They shook. It was then that the realization hit him. They were no longer on the same page anymore. The deed was done and it cannot be forgotten just like that.

they talked, but the content only barely scratched the surface of what they used to chat about in the past. It was as if they just met not long ago. However he was contented. Instead of avoidance, they were communicating.

does this mark a new beginning? He certainly hopes so. But the prospect of them being good friends again, remains to be seen. Only time holds the answer.
