TV mobile

Blogging Spree! dunno why but suddenly feel like blogging so much, maybe cause i would have to mug if i'm not blogging

while on the bus today, ackerley pointed out that it is screening diva on a dime, again.

i mean, how many shows do you actually see on TV mobile? once, very long ago, they used to screen animes in the mornings just nice around the time when i take bus, nicely put so that i'll always catch it. the shows are as nice as i can possibly imagine, literally. always catch first 20mins of it, so that leaves me to imagine what happens in the 10 mins between each episode. but it was a great experience, and luckily for ppl like me who tends to miss the bus on certain days, they keep rerunning the same episodes or somehow wind back and start playing from 10 episodes ago. either that or they stop screening halfway into the series and start screening the same anime 2 months later with additional episodes.

but now, its always the same few shows.
1. Diva on a Dime (god knows which country's dime is worth like US$300)
2. World's Funniest Animals
3. Just for laughs
4. Designer Guys

yep, that pretty much summarises the entire programme list for TV mobile 7 days a week, 4 weeks a month, 12 months a year.

think about it, when have you ever boarded a bus and throughout the journey and none of those shows are showing? (excluding those showing "TV mobile is under maintenance" and those without a TV) probably only when you weren't looking at the TV.

everytime i board the bus, can't help but get a feeling of deja vu, probably cause they are always also showing the SAME episodes. arguably, different ppl take buses at different times so different ppl will catch the same episode. but how do you justify showing same episode 3 days on 3 consecutive days at exactly the same time. they even allow you to get twice the fun with one episode of world's funniest animals, by showing it twice! consecutively!

and once in a while, a rare once, when something nice is actually being shown on the tv,
1) you are too far away to see the screen clearly
2) you are too close to see the screen clearly
3) you are too far away from the speaker to hear anything
4) someone's head/arm/body/leg is in the way

when you finally overcome all the other obstacles and starts to enjoy the show, the connection screws up and you end up watching nice slide shows. when the tv decides its too laggy and restarts the connection and everything is nice and smooth again, the show has already ended.

so what is the purpose of having tv mobiles installed on nearly every single bus? is it to entertain commuters? is it to provide news to us on the move? does anyone actually feel entertained by watching tv mobile? its quite like watching leaves fall off a tree, except that at least leaves have more variety in shapes and colours and more ways of falling.

in conclusion, tv mobile is totally unneeded, they should just remove them and save electricity and stop raising bus fares.
